What moves the GBP/USD rate
The British Pound, used in the United Kingdom, responds mainly to Bank of England rate decisions, UK inflation and growth data, and political news, which the pound reacts to more sharply than most major currencies. The US Dollar, used in the United States, responds mainly to Federal Reserve interest rate decisions, US inflation data and global risk appetite, since the dollar is the currency people buy when they want safety.
