Singapore GST Calculator
Add 9% GST to a net price, or work backwards from a GST-inclusive total, for Singapore. Free and instant.
Presets show each country’s standard rate. Most countries also have reduced or zero rates for specific goods (food, books, medicine); enter those with the custom rate box. Rates change by law, so confirm the current rate for your category before invoicing.
How GST works in Singapore
The standard rate is 9%. Adding GST means multiplying the net price by 1.09. Removing it is the step people get wrong: you divide the gross by 1.09, you do not subtract 9%. Taking 9% off a GST-inclusive total leaves you short, because the 9% was charged on the smaller net figure, not on the total.
Adding 9% GST
| Net amount | GST at 9% | Gross amount |
|---|---|---|
| 100 | 9 | 109 |
| 250 | 22.50 | 272.50 |
| 500 | 45 | 545 |
| 1,000 | 90 | 1,090 |
| 2,500 | 225 | 2,725 |
| 5,000 | 450 | 5,450 |
| 10,000 | 900 | 10,900 |
Removing 9% GST from a gross amount
Use this direction when you have a receipt or an inclusive price and need the net figure for your books:
| Gross amount | Net amount | GST included |
|---|---|---|
| 100 | 91.74 | 8.26 |
| 250 | 229.36 | 20.64 |
| 500 | 458.72 | 41.28 |
| 1,000 | 917.43 | 82.57 |
| 2,500 | 2,293.58 | 206.42 |
| 5,000 | 4,587.16 | 412.84 |
| 10,000 | 9,174.31 | 825.69 |
Reduced and zero rates
Not everything is charged at 9%. In Singapore the reduced and zero rates cover 0% on exports and international services, with most financial services and residential property sales exempt. The calculator above accepts any rate, so switch to a custom rate when you are invoicing something outside the standard band.
Registering and charging
The rate rose from 8% to 9% on 1 January 2024, so invoices spanning that date need care. Until you are registered you must not charge GST, and once you are, your invoices need your registration number, the rate applied and the GST amount shown separately. Keep the arithmetic on the invoice consistent with your filings: rounding each line differently is a common source of small mismatches.

Multiply the net price by 1.09. For example 1,000 net becomes 1,090 gross, of which 90 is GST.
How do I remove 9% GST from a total?
