Converting US Dollar to Thai Baht

The converter above uses European Central Bank reference rates, published once every working day at around 16:00 CET. That makes them a neutral benchmark rather than a live dealing price: the market keeps moving after the ECB publishes, and every provider quotes its own rate around that midpoint. Type any amount to convert it, and use the 1M, 6M, 1Y and 5Y buttons to see how the USD/THB rate has behaved over those periods.

What moves the USD/THB rate

The US Dollar, used in the United States, responds mainly to Federal Reserve interest rate decisions, US inflation data and global risk appetite, since the dollar is the currency people buy when they want safety. The Thai Baht, used in Thailand, responds mainly to tourism flows, the trade balance and Bank of Thailand policy. An exchange rate is a ratio, so it moves when either side moves, which is why a pair can drift even in a week when nothing happened in one of the two countries.

Sending money to Thailand

The rate above is the reference rate, which is the midpoint of the market. It is not what a bank or transfer app will give you. Most add a margin of 0.5% to 3% to that midpoint and may charge a separate fee on top, so the honest way to compare providers is to ask what Thai Baht amount actually lands in the Thai bank account, not what rate is advertised. Compare the landed amount against the reference rate here and the difference is the true cost of the transfer.

Reading the chart before you convert

A single day’s rate says very little on its own. Switch the chart to 1Y and check where today sits inside the range: near the top, the bottom, or the middle. For a large one-off conversion that context is worth more than trying to time the market, and the high and low figures beside the chart give you the range at a glance. The history table under the chart can be downloaded as CSV if you need the numbers for a spreadsheet or a tax filing.
